HAWAII KAI TRAFFIC ADVISORY

4th ANNUAL HONOLULU EKIDEN RELAY RUN

MAY 22, 2016

Kalanianaole Hwy. (makai lane only) will be conned and closed to traffic from end of H-1 to Lunalilo Home Rd.  beginning at 4:30am.  Traffic from residence and business can cross the conned lane to exit using caution and care.  HPD officers will be placed along the route at major intersections. 

Kalanianaole Hwy. (makai lane) to Sandy Beach will be closed to traffic with street closure beginning at 5:00am.  Town bound traffic will remain open along this route. HPD and GP Roadway will follow the last runner with a rolling opening of the roads beginning at 8:30am from Sandy Beach.  As the last runner progresses back to Kapiolani Park, the roads will be opened.

Detour:  Hawaii Kai (Hanauma Bay/Sandy Beach) – From the Lunalilo Home Rd.  Kalanianaole Hwy. intersection, take Lunalilo Home Rd. to Hawaii Kai Drive (rt) to Kealahou Street (rt) to Kalanianaole Hwy. (rt).  Town bound direction is open for traffic.

Detour: Hawaii Kai (Portlock)  – Those exiting from Portlock will need to exit from the Portlock Rd and Kalanianaole Hwy exit or the Nawiliwili Street exit at Kalanianaole Hwy from approximately 5:00am to 9:45am.   

All roadways will remain closed for the return route.  HPD and coning trucks will follow the last runner and remove cones, signs and traffic controls and traffic will be back to normal.  All roads are expected to be open and back to normal by 11:30am.
