Next Hawaii Kai plant swap and exchange will be held on July 19, 2025.
For those planning to come, we hold these plant swaps on the Third Saturday of every month from 10am to 1pm right in front of Assagios and the waterfront at Koko Marina. It’s all in conjunction with 808 Craft and Gift Fairs, so if you visit there will be many booths to visit and lots of good old local kine fun.
Our policy is like that of a potluck. Bring something, take something. If you don’t have anything to give, no worries. Pay it forward by doing a good deed for another neighbor or bring extra plants the next time you come and visit. We have a $ donation jar, but we don’t expect monetary donations. We prefer a community that builds positive momentum in its deeds. If you leave a monetary donation, we will put it to good use to supply future events (i.e. potting soil, pots, etc) and donate the remainder to future generations through our schools.
For July, I’m playing catchup, but we have other generous donors that bring a variety of plants each month. We’re definitely going to need the community to bring donations, just like they did last month.
Once again, thank you to everyone that makes this happen, 808 Ladybugs, my BFF Nell, Ray, Santa & Mrs. G, Bert, Pauline, and the list goes on and on. A very special thank you for June, as the volunteers ran the show. A very special thank you to Haiku Uncle (see — the family is growing), my awesome coworker, who was enlisted to run the setup and takedown along with the other volunteers.
