Recently, I splurged on some seeds. I’m expecting a shipment of Verbena Compacta, a flowering shrub that can also be a ground covering. Normally it’s an annual, but I think with Hawaii’s weather, it will function as a perennial. An added bonus, it seems to root at the nodes, allowing the plant to spread easily. Verbena are drought-resistant, tolerating full to partial sun, and enjoy well-drained, average soils.
It’s also one of those flowers listed as a butterfly attractor.
I went ahead an bought the larger size packet of seeds so I can share. I’ll add it to the December plant exchange’s list of seed availability.
