I really didn’t plan to do a complete overhaul of the website, but I took a chance on a backup app that didn’t quite do what I thought it would do.
It’s one of those “probably for the best” mistakes: I was preparing the website for an intern from Kaiser High School. At Kaiser, all of the International Baccalaureate students are required to put in service hours toward bettering their world and communities. I managed to snag a budding graphics designer for our plant exchange. Being a bit of a stickler for digital privacy, I’m calling them “IB Izzy.” It’s up to them to decide how much internet fame they otherwise choose to seek.
You’ll also notice that the Twitter feed is gone, replaced by the week’s news on Hawaii Kai and surrounding areas. In addition to thinking that a news feed is more useful, I’m also making a bit of a political statement about Elon Musk’s takeover of the company. I wish there were more than two political parties — I would belong to the humanist one, neither red nor blue. But, alas — it seems we move away from middle ground every day.
As for what you can look forward to on this website, I’d say the big one is that I’m finally going to tend to this digital garden, pulling out weeds, planting new posts and working together with new and fresh talent to make it what it should be.
