I’ve tested these out for Hawaii’s climate. They’re fantastic. The Cherokee Purple tomato is classified as a medium sized variety and the one in the picture weighed a pound. The variety is indeterminate and will continue to grow until first frost, which in Hawaii, is never. After a yield of eight or so tomatoes, I pruned it back so it could regrow. It’s in a large pot and supported by an upside-down tomato cage secured with cable ties to the pot itself.
When ripe, these tomatoes will have a green tint on top and red on the bottom. They’re juicy. Perhaps too juicy, so picking them a little early would make it easier to put them in sandwiches.
