Kalanianaole Hwy. (makai lane only) will be conned and closed to traffic from end of H-1 to Lunalilo Home Rd.  beginning at 4:30am.  Traffic from residence and business can cross the conned lane to exit using caution and care.  HPD officers will be placed along the route at major intersections. 

Kalanianaole Hwy. (makai lane) to Sandy Beach will be closed to traffic with street closure beginning at 5:00am.  Town bound traffic will remain open along this route. HPD and GP Roadway will follow the last runner with a rolling opening of the roads beginning at 8:30am from Sandy Beach.  As the last runner progresses back to Kapiolani Park, the roads will be opened.

Detour:  Hawaii Kai (Hanauma Bay/Sandy Beach) – From the Lunalilo Home Rd.  Kalanianaole Hwy. intersection, take Lunalilo Home Rd. to Hawaii Kai Drive (rt) to Kealahou Street (rt) to Kalanianaole Hwy. (rt).  Town bound direction is open for traffic.

Detour: Hawaii Kai (Portlock)  – Those exiting from Portlock will need to exit from the Portlock Rd and Kalanianaole Hwy exit or the Nawiliwili Street exit at Kalanianaole Hwy from approximately 5:00am to 9:45am.   

All roadways will remain closed for the return route.  HPD and coning trucks will follow the last runner and remove cones, signs and traffic controls and traffic will be back to normal.  All roads are expected to be open and back to normal by 11:30am.

They expect to have 35,000+ runners.  It will start on Ala Moana Blvd., near Queen St., to Ala Moana Blvd., ewa bound, to Nuuanu Ave., to King St., to Kapiolani Blvd., to Piikoi St., to Ala Moana Blvd., to Kalakaua Ave., to Monsarrat Ave., to Paki Ave., to Diamond Hd. Rd., to 18th Ave., to Kilauea Ave., to Waialae Ave., to Kalanianaole Hwy., to Hawaii Kai Dr., to Keahole St. to Kalanianaole Hwy., to Kealaolu Ave., to Kahala Ave., to Diamond Head Rd., to Kalakaua Ave., end at Honolulu Marathon finish/Kapiolani Bandstand. Tinman Triathlon takes place July 26, 2015.  The biking portion runs through Hawaii Kai as follows:


BIKE COURSE – 40 Kilometers

Bike course will start from the transition area in Kapiolani Park. Cyclist will head out onto Kalakaua Ave. and ride up

Diamond Head Rd. and Kahala Ave. Turn left on Kealaolu St., go right and merge onto Kalanianaole Hwy. eastbound till

Lunalilo Home Rd. Make left turn, stay on Lunalilo Home Rd till cyclist makes a right turn onto Hawaii Kai Dr. At the corner

of Hawaii Kai Dr. and Kealahou St, cyclist will make a u-turn and head back. Turn left at corner of Hawaii Kai Dr and Lunalilo

Home Rd., turn right on Wailua, turn left onto Keahole St, then turn right to merge onto Kalanianaole Hwy west bound. Take

right exit at Kilauea Ave. exit ramp, turn left onto Kilauea Ave.. Turn left on Elepaio, turn right on Kahala Ave., ride up

Diamond Head Rd., and turn left on Kalakaua Ave. back to the transition area at Kapiolani Park.
